Description

This will be the last entry in my Ohio storm series...I have many more pictures of it and if anyone is interested in seeing them, please let me know and I can get them to you. This home was a few miles from us but it shows how the winds just ripped these poor trees apart... The amazing thing to me was that these huge trees fell so easily and the small trees stood, not even a broken limb. It also played havoc with cell phones in the area...I couldn't even get a signal on mine.

Isn't it amazing how you could have two trees right beside each other and one fall down and nothing happens to the other. Nature is a amazing thing. Nice series :)

As an old saying says, oh well, can't remember it but it had something to do with wind and trees, basically if the tree will not bend to the wind then it will fall. Wish I could remember the whole thing. Excellent capture!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great pics of sad events Marcy. Young trees are less brittle and the boat with the biggest sails is most likely to capsize in a strong cross wind, same with trees. Tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, blizzards.. (just to name a few). It's a good thing I don't believe God is responsible or I'd have to hold him accountable someday. Bravo and hugs from Dave :^)

These have been some fine pictures of the mess left behind by the windstorm.I hope that people are doing okay with the cleanup.

I understand that the reason the winds became so violent when the remnants of Ike passed your way was because the sun was shining and the heat mixed with the storm remnants fueled the wind to horrendous speeds. Thanks for sending me the video you made of this, Marlene. Much appreciated.

I don't think the wind paid attention to that 25 mph sign - lol hope all is better now. Little late on viewing uploads.

Just looked at your last three Ohio storm images. The wind is a mighty force isn't it? I'm originally from the east coast and these sorts of storms, while never easy, are not too unusual. I've lived in Kansas for the last 29 years and here tornadoes are the name of the game...but you've even experienced them in Ohio too in recent years. I've never experienced a flood...that's one event I hope to never experience. Excellent photos. Bill

I guess there really is a lesson to be learned here and that is everything no matter how strong it is is susceptible. I also hope that the people who were affected weren't hurt! Coincidently I had the same experience where a 100 year old maple tree in my front yard - one of the big heavy branches fell off and hit my neighbor's car! In the meantime my car was in the drive just under the tree and there wasn't a scratch on it! Go figure - but I guess that really is the true nature of storms! It is a very awesome capture of the results of a storm!
