Description
Ruins of the fort. The fort was in operation from 1865 through 1891, near Las Cruces. General Douglas MacArthur lived there as a child.

The place where it was built looks like a good defensive position. Unless you had cavalry and scouts to ride out.

I know this is old but there is this nagging question - is it really old? I see so many buildings in Europe that are 300-500 years old in better shape than some of our 100 year old buildings. Makes you really think...don't you think? :-) I do like the loneliness in this shot..as if old souls are lurking behind the stones.
