Description

This photo captures a lovely house with its own tower . It is situated right at the beginning of La Rocque Harbour which is in the east of the Island. This house, if it were for sale would cost several million pounds. Directly in front of it is a block of toilets and a mobile sandwich/burger van - I think if I had that sort of money I would be looking elsewhere to buy my house! Thank you for your views and comments Susan

Lovely capture of a splendid house. Guess you have the local (so-called) Planners to blame for the loos and fast-food van being there to spoil things.

If I had a house like that, I think I would just put nice heavy drapes on the side overlooking the vendors and sit at my picture window with the incredible view of the water. :-) I'm not fussy...I make do. Love this shot. It has a great pov and you have shown a good eye for composition.

If you could afford the house, you could also afford to buy out the vendor and apply for the land to give a private driveway. I would also restore the tower, as it was when new, and maybe cash in on the tourists. I wonder does it have its own private beach. Excellent capture Susan. Bravo!!!!!

A very interesting capture. What was the tower used for ?? a lighthouse?? Great house but I'd have to move it to a warm climate.

Ralph - 'Round' Towers were part of a strategic defence programme to protect the island against French attack in the late Eighteenth century. There are over 20 towers of varying designs around the island's coast, although most are either 'Round towers or of the 'Martello' design. Many have now been refurbished to incorporate living accommodation. Those not privately owned have been transferred to the "national trust" and are being let as holiday accommodation to locals and visitors alike. They are expensive to rent though. Hope this information helps. Susan
