Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I think it's wonderful how some people will come to the rescue of our wild animal friends. I hope the birds will fair well there....thank you for sharing.

Excellent capture! :)

I see the stacks of the Huntington Beach SCE plant there. It used to burn oil but must have been converted to natural gas now. The fencing could be more attractive but would it be respected.

I love those fence shadows on the sand; it may not be a high-tech fancy fence but it has wonderful lines for a photographer's eye. Well seen!

Great POV and perspective on this capture, Marilyn.

I think its a damn good idea, and there should be more of it, a bit more secure wouldn't go amiss, kids can climb over there too easy. Excellent capture Marilyn, nice to see images like this from time to time, shows that somebody cares. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!

FENCE SHADOWS! Another one of my favorite things! Love the perspective and undulating effect of the fence as it meanders across the sandy, weed encrusted turf. Hot enough for you today in Huntington Beach and environs?

It looks very functional and easy to replace or repair, if necessary. Excellent POV. I am very happy to see the birds have a safe place to be - or should I say safer. People sometimes do not realize the damage they can do by just being in the wrong place, or make so much noise, etc. This fence should keep that easier to understand. I like this idea. This is an excellent image of the shadows, as someone said previously.

Before I left Chicago, I learned of a pair of bald eagles actually nesting not too far outside of the city...at least I THINK they were bald headed eagles, or "white headed eagles" as they're called over here...anyway, I thought of that, because of the whole process of fencing in various areas out in the 'burbs of Chicago. Seeing this image brought all of that back, and what I find appealing about this image is the brilliance of the color and the juxtaposition of the bird sanctuary area with two little bitty smokestacks in the rear distance...it's a great and unexpected combination that works perfectly on so many different levels.
