Description

This is for the "Size doesn't matter" contest over at Digital Down Under. It is inspired by the animated film "The Iron Giant", I really like that movie. I was trying to convey the idea that the size of an individual doesn't always reflect the size of ones heart. Sometimes the most trusting, loving and courageous indiviuals can come in the smallest of packages. Background was done in Vue 6, the flowerchild was a base model done in Poser 7 with her hair and clothes done in PS and the iron giant was drawn from scratch with some movie stills as references, done in Photoshop CS2. I had alot of fun doing this peace, thanks for looking and hope you like it. P.S. Please check it out in full view if you have the time, in the way it was intended to be seen :)

you always use your light so dramatically. i wish rendo let you display PNGs, and that there was better support for higher bit images, because lighting like this would look so much better. just in terms of what it looks like (not its meaning), you have a great balance of innocence and menace. it feels like this is a misty sunset on cliffs by the ocean, which fits the Iron Giant's locale perfectly. i really like the use of the gulls. nice work!

hmmmm ... I think you're a lot better then this image express! the silhouettes are awesome: girl, iron-man, grass, birds ... and the background is breathtaking, but there are two points left: the mist I think is either not cloud-like enough or the 'edges' aren't smooth enough. And his glowing eyes are too plump and flat :( Furthermore this shimmer on his left one reminds me of an opening door ... perhaps it's a parallel to the movie I don't know but I think it doesn't fit 'cause I don't see any other shapes. okay, enough critic! the two birds on his head are gorgeous! lol 4/5

This is the sort of inspired imagination that makes your work so good, Frank. Its just a great take on that original idea and the execution is subtle, heart rending and powerful. A favourite!Excellent work. Dave
