Description

**Best if viewed Full Size** ~~~~ As those who had come before him had done for seasons beyond counting, Goldriver celebrated with his wolfen brethren. The seasons passing, the hunt, the joys and sorrows of the pack as if they were his own blood-kin. Just as they did with he and his own tribe. His voice, as well as others of his tribe, rose in song with the pack on the full moon's eve. This night's song, which raised to the crescendo of a distant roll of wild thunder, was in remembrance of those lost, the beloved departed. Not just his own, but his tribe and the pack as well. For himself, he remembered: His first wolf companion -- a lop eared mottled brown wolf named Moss. His beloved mate, the beautiful, vibrant, and full of life Starglow who had died giving life to his son, Briar...who he later lost to fever their Healer's magic could not cure. His parents and theirs. And the other pack-mates, both Elvin and wolf, who had died through the turn of the seasons. And it was in commemoration of this change of seasons and the fire manned mate he now held and loved, his dear Rosethorn, who now awaited their firstborn. The silver coated wolf at his side, Mist, who became his companion, and her jet black mate, Coal. In the distant forest, other voices joined the song, until it seemed to fill the whole of the woods. Dry branches snapped in pre-winters chill, and leaves changed their hue from emerald to orange and a chill in the winds, as they passed down the mountains. Tonight tales would be told to the youngsters by elders, lovers would retire to their own dens and alcoves. The moon would watch over her children and shine down on their nights. And the pack would sing again....the next night. ~~~~ **This is an image loosely based on characters based on and inspired by an old story of mine, based on a comic series called Elfquest (by Wendy and Richard Pini) and the Wolfriders (copyright to Warp Graphics and Father Tree Press). Interesting... It's like the moon has got all their attention and they're stareing at it, but not (because of depth)
