Description

During my two-week tour of Nevada/California several years ago, I also had the opportunity to visit Calvaras National Park - with the huge redwoods. This picture gives you an idea of just how big these trees really are (the person in the photo stands 6'2"). I was absolutely amazed and astonished at the sheer size of these beautiful redwoods. A wonderful shot. It does make you think about how short human life is compared to many other forms of life on earth. There is a richness in nature that is held by these giant forests.

I'm lucky enough to live in redwood country (humboldt county, near eureka, ca), and these trees never fail to take my breath away. There are some over 10,000 years old--sure puts things in perspective!!
