Description
This image came about after some research into USAAF fighter aces of WWII - European Theatre. I live on a boundary between Norfolk and Suffolk in the UK and the whole place is steeped in the history. With some artistic licence this picture is a tribute to Major George Preddy and "Cripes A'Mighty 2" who and which were tragically shot down in a friendly fire incident during the Battle of the Bulge.
Renderosity artists whose fantastic models were used include thunderr, adh3d and usslopez.

Great render!

Very well done. It captures a moment in time with out the stiff look that most renders do. Very nice.

I just want to thank everybody for the brilliant feedback on this picture. It's great to read that the areas I was concentrating on are those commented on - posing of characters and realism. Thanks very much it's really appreciated! David Wilkinson

Overall colours and well done and good feelig, however for C/C the sizing of pilots / P51 is off, aircraft to pilot size was much bigger about 25/33% bigger. Current sizes looks like the US kit 75 mustang. nice though..

gbpackers - Thanks for your comments and point taken. However, I did incorporate the term "artistic licence" in the description. If I had presented the aircraft at its correct scale I felt that it would have had a negative aesthetic impact on the composition and distracted from the group of airmen which is the actual focus of the picture. The exercise was really about producing a "nice" picture and trying to pose Poser figures so that they looked natural.

Thanks ddw25. Your excellent rendering of several of "The Blue-Nosed Bastards of Bodney" caused me to seek out and read a synopsis of George Preddy's distinguished flying career. I agree with you...a fulll scale airplane probably would have detracted from your Poser figures. Preddy flew all the big ones a member of the USAAF could hope to get their hands on...P-40, P-38, P-47 and P-51. Isn't it something that the Navy rejected him? Sounds like he packed an awful lot of living into his 25 years. Thanks for bringing this Ace to my attention. Bill
