Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

I don't think I've ever seen them on dry land, always in the water or flying. Surreal scene, and great capture! Yes, they do look rather like fragile white vultures, maybe vulture ghosts....

I don't think I have ever seen them on land like this Marilyn, very unusual, and they shouldn't be haeding South yet should they? I would have thought it a bit soon for that. Whatever the reason they made a good shot for you to have. Excellent work. Bravo!!!!!

You're getting some really great captures on your mini vacation. This does knid of look a bit ancient...especially the land area.

lol @ andrea.... love these egrets

Vivid testimony to the fact that egrets have no secrets (well, after all, it does rhyme!). Did you notice that tallpindo is copying my style? In any event, a moment of carefree existence depicted in this fine summertime shot, Marilyn!

Beautiful capture and I do see where they would remind us of vultures in wait

Gorgeous image...they remind me of aliens in a way, I think it's in their vulture-like "stoop shouldered" poses, as well as the dry land. The whole absence of water casts these beauties in a completely different light, and I love the sense of color and lighting you've captured here. Great work, as always!

Yes, full-size it's quite a shot. The prehistoric feel is probably from the 'wilderness' of the sand and weeds, etc. They do look like they're at some threshold of time...but it's also a fun shot, because all these egrets are just standing around doing their thing, utterly oblivious of you, and not too tuned into themselves either. Like, "anyone here have a clue what's going on???" The random patches of weed add to it all...An unusual shot of egrets to be sure; but they probably feel it's just a day in the life, which you captured here. A really nice shot of birds doing their thing in the sun...
