Description

Again, I wish to thank flavia49 for sharing her beautiful photographs of Venice with me and allowing me to use them in some of my renders. A few days later, I met Mr. Smith at the airport as he had instructed me. He had a small plane ready to take us to the mainland. From there, we caught a commercial flight out of Orlando, and arrived in Venice the next day. We had time to settle into the first class Hotel Mr. Smith had arranged for us, two adjoining rooms, with spectacular views and all the ammenities. I got freshened up and relaxed while I waited for Mr. Smith to return from his first meeting. He got back in time to show me around the city a little bit. We strolled along the canals and just took in the scenary. Since Mr. Smith was so well versed on the city, he was able to give me a thorough rundown on all my questions. By then, we were getting hungry, and by a strange coincidence (??) or not, we wound up at Calle del Paradiso (Paradise Alley) where the very eatery Mr. Smith had told me about a few days before was located. We went in and were greeted by the staff. They seemed to know Mr. Smith and afforded him every courtesy and showed us both exemplary service. We were seated in a nice quiet corner, where Mr. Smith ordered for us. My head is still spinning from all the dishes that were placed on our table. So many courses, such exquisitly prepared meals. I thought I was in paradise! I don't know how I was able to eat as much as I did. But I think we did justice to dinner. We must've spent 3 or 4 hours enjoying this fine dining experience and each others company. The time just flew. All too soon, we got to the last course. The staff were looking rather anxious, like they were ready to close the place, so Mr. Smith graciously complied with their wishes. We had such a wonderful time getting back to the hotel. Mr. Smith hired a gondola which took us almost to our doorstep. Such fantastic memories and experiences, I shall never forget. We bid each other goodnight and went off to our separate rooms. I didn't sleep all that much, thinking of the rare and exotic creature in the next room. He had told me in passing that he had some more meetings in the morning, but that we would see some more sites in the afternoon. I could hardly wait!
