Description

Lavatera blossoms from Ann's garden. The background was just leaves and patches of light, and the contrast was too harsh, so I got rid of it. .......... Edit note: Although I noticed the color-coordinated "spider" when I was postworking this shot, it didn't really register until Denise mentioned it. I have no idea why there's a 12-legged hot pink spider in the blossom on the right! LOL! Perhaps it's sexual dimorphism. Anybody know?

Well you know what they say, if it bothers you then you have it out! Great capture of these lovelies! Is that a coordinating pink spider in the center of the one on the right?

This is just stunning! I love the pink on the black background - it just pops right off the screen. This would be beautiful done the same way that you did "Peach Dream" on April 13.

I believe this growth is the pistil. "A gynoecium (from Ancient Greek gyne, "woman") is the female reproductive part of a flower...A gynoecium is composed of one or more pistils. A pistil may consist of a single free carpel, or be formed from a number of carpels that are fused." This from Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pistil I think it is most easily observed in lilies but this one is also easy to spot. I am so very taken with this shot. It is just the sort of thing I go for in a big way. Total detail and a focus on the flower with no fuss around it to distract the eye.

Superb! It reminded me a immediately of those loudspeakers at country shows that point in two directions: this one would be ideal for the corner of the horticultural displays marquee!

Well it made me think of sugar candy, pink candy floss and the fairground. It looks good enough to eat at any rate, superb clarity and detail Tara, it seems strange that one has such a pronounced pistil and the other doesn't. Getting rid of the background highlights the flowers all the more and lets us soak them up without any distractions. Apart from Pauline coming and asking me what I want to eat. Lol. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!5+++++
