Description
The Rains are done for another year.
Desert foliage pops up as it must do after a soaking.
The Pool is muddy from the run-off.
The silt will settle and the Pool will be clear.
Mule and offspring stop to slack their thirst.
Plenty of food and water for them.
They will stay as long as it is safe and the 'vittles' hold out.
A lone Mallard comes in to take a much needed respite from his flight South.
He had been raked by a hungry small hawk, but got away.
A few days of splash and preening will take care of that.
Soon other desert dwellers will come and this valley will be a haven until the predators show up.
Until then, these peaceful citizens of the desert will enjoy the grandeur and feast, that the rain and Mother nature provides.

Good story and description. Good work compositing in the duck.

The parts of the picture are too regular. 1/3 sky, 1/3 terrain, 1/3 water. To create flat water isn't really hard, so try to create a focus on terrain [and surface] or sky in this image. I also miss some kind of scale, if you know what I mean. Are these mountains or is it a mudhole [ don't get me wrong =) ]. Perhaps a more detailded surface could help with that. Keep it up :) Greetings

I believe what CorTezz is saying is choose either 1/3 terrain/water; 2/3 sky; or, 2/3 terrain/water; 1/3 sky. I the case of the first choice, I would pivot the camera such to attain that attitude. Also, water with a hint of roughness and patch size (but 0 waves) would be good for a small body of water. You've got a good one going here; all that is needed are a few adjustments. Looking forward to see 'Still Water Pool II'.
