Description

I don't usually think of myself as a good photographer -- passable, sure, but not truly gifted. I happen to like running around with a camera and annoying small animals. It's a hobby; it's what kept me from being lured into the shady Maple Syrup Syndicate as a youth. I have missed far more opportunities than I've taken. However, I'm really proud of this one. The sunlight was beautiful that day and there was a fairly tame frog sitting right in it. I was in the right place at the right time and this time I didn't fuck it up. It makes me feel like I have a little talent, like I'm not a useless skin flake. Like I may be actually worth something instead of just lucking out a lot. It's a pity art's so subjective because there's no way for anyone to know for sure if they are talented or not. It's confusing. It's also sometimes lots of fun. Thanks for your comments on my writing. I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while. Given that I'm in the middle of postworking all this summer crap that's been sitting around waiting for me to get to it, I should have a considerable stash built up by tomorrow, and an even larger one by the next day. May not produce much new stuff but since none of you have seen these they'll be "new" to you and hopefully you'll enjoy them. Have a nice day. EDIT: Removed a word I'm not using anymore because it's insulting to people with disabilities. Sorry I didn't think of that before.

You've every right to be proud of this baby. The is is great, as is the detail. The reflection is a surrealist drip below the surface of the water into another reality. Have fun annoying those small animals. ;']

Detail is awesome and the colours are great, the light certainly was spot on :) Not taking anything from the shot but maybe not as much negative space and a different (non-centred on the eye) crop might have given this the impact it deserves - something along the lines of the thumb maybe? A photo isnt always what you see come straight out of the camera (a lot of mine are re-framed in postwork via a different crop).

Fantastic photo, this detailed frog eyes are awesome. Maybe i would give the picture some more space at the top and crop some from the bottom. But nevertheless a great picture.

Great shot...you got in nice and close! Exceptional detail. Expecially like the "off kilter" composition. The more you'rr out and about...the more you'll start spotting photo ops and you develop that photographers eye! Keep'em comin'!

This is a superior image, and I think you could crop it much tighter and make it even more stunning.

I agree with the comments above about it being a fine shot and that if you cropped it more tightly, it would sing all the more. I'm not as specific about the crop, since doing it usually would tell me...for what it's worth, as a 2D 'analog' artist, I not only struggle with where to begin & end a project, but how to crop & border it when finishing it. It's by far the most maddening thing I do. I don't really know how long photographers spend at it, but I assume it's one of the big decisions, and I know it was when all postwork was done in the dark room. That aside, Your eye is wonderful, acs, which I say not to be kind but truthful. And good to see you back. I still have a some of your writing to catch up on, and will...
