Description

Nikon 7900 pocket camera, hand-held image. This is one of the rare times when I used a flash. My pocket camera is usually within a few inches of my subjects and (at that distance) the flash either overpowers the image or creates a bad shadow because it is obstructed by the 1 inch long lens, lol. Thanks to those who take the time to comment. Lee

Superb! I have the same trouble of course with my pocket camera, this has worked really well. Our bush-crickets which are the same family as your katydids all seem to have quite rounded backs. This one is very straight and smooth!

Well it worked out OK this time Lee, you stopped him in his tracks for an excellent capture. When Emma was small we used to go up on the school field catching crickets, now when I want to photograph them they have fenced off the field. The main reason for fencing it off was people walking their dogs on it and not cleaning up after them, so I can't reall grumble. It was a great place for them though. Superb work on this one. Bravo!!!!!

Ahh, very cool. Never seen one of these but did see some shots of them yesterday at BugGuide looking up my Tree Cricket. Very nice shot and the flash did good. Not washed out or funny shadows to deal with. Well done.

Never-the-less, the result is great. It's amazing, how these insects (ever so slightly) vary, from country to country. BB

Fantastic shot and a great sense of definition brought out by the flash...I love the subtle contrast between light and dark, all highlighting the subject! Great stuff!
