Description

Just playing around with my polarize filter. I'm on the other side of the island at a place called Kawaihae. This is Pelekane Bay. There was a temple (submerged) called Hale o Kapuni Heiau built of stone and dedicated to the shark god. At low tides, it would stick out of the water. But today, it is not seen. They believe that silt from the coral flats to build the new harbor, tidal wave, and amphibious equipment which landed on the beach may have obscured or scattered the remains of the temple (heiau). Warning to anyone. At times, you can see the shark fins in this bay. Aloha and thank you for viewing.

This shore is not at all what I would expect. No sand, lots of rocks, and the landscape is not lush with tropical plants. :-) I really like the look of it and sharks are no problem...I don't put my flesh in wild water since I lived on Galveston Bay and saw sharks and other creatures much too close for comfort. :-) It sure would be cool to see that temple though...

Wonderful foto of this sacred place; I would also love to see the temple, but guess the sharks would have to get me first!!
