Description

It was here that many human sacrifice was made to the shark god at Pelekane Bay. The first was Keoua who was killed on this beach as he and his companions disembarked from their boat. His death would assured King Kamehameha the Great to supremacy over all the islands. Keoua was a chief and cousin to King Kamehameha. Aloha and thank you for viewing

Hehe. In our modern age we only offer human sacrifice to the gods of collateral damage and unintended consequences. This is a beautiful place and your capture is as excellent as your weather.

This cove has such a friendly feeling, bright and sunny, a place you would bring the family to side and watch the water. And, yet, it has a turbulent past. Great shot and incredible story.

Excellent shot. Are the long lines of rocks natural or are they stacked a certain way to prevent beach erosion? Just curious. Bill

More wonderful stories of your land--maybe not the usual tale of beauty, but still a part of history.

Bill....That wall of rocks were man made and part of shoreline alterations and harbor construction. The harbor construction actually destroyed the beach as well as a substantial portion of the largest expanse of coral reef there. Marine life had declined since 1976. Thanks for asking...
