Description
this a VW Beetle that has a maybe a small block Chevrolet in front, and it still has the 4 cylinder.I suppose it was left in for weight and to fool some people. It was at the Texas Speedway custom car show.first one I have seen in person. the driver and passenger sits nearly back where the rear seat belongs

My cousin, while we was in college, dropped a Covair (remember those?) air cooled engine in a Bug, the torque to weight ratio was such, ended up putting 600 pounds of pig iron in the trunk to balance off the engine weight; keep the front end down. I'll NEVER forget the night we went to "Airport Road," 4 miles of flat, straight pavement to do a standing start 0 to 60 time run; it was like "rev-rev-pop-the-clutch," in 2nd gear mind you, & the front end was half way up between horizontal & vertical before Craig could ease off the throttle, DAMN, what a ride. anyways, this is a SWEET picture! BTW Richard; I (your comment under my Horn O Plenty design yesterday ^^) never realized you liked my Surrealism before, due largely to the dearth of comments I get here on R'osity...NOW, I'm finally realizing WHY so many good artists leave. :(

Nice one! I was just telling Bruce earlier this week how my mom only drove VW Beetles in her life. Obviously not souped up like this puppy, but nonetheless!!! :)

The hood is one of those fibreglass reproductions of a 40 Ford where you could have had a Rolls Royce if you checked a different box in the order form. To decide if it really was a Chevrolet engine I zoomed in. The water outlet on the intake manifold is in front, the alternator brackets off the water pump but it also mounts on a sleeve directly to the head (old Chevrolets mounted to the exhausst manifold). It has an airconditioner compresser on the left of the photo that ties into the condensor with the electric fan in the front. The heater hose comes off the water pump top correctly. The water pump pulley and flat belt with idler under the compressor is newer. Power steering pump on the right of photo. The way the radiator hoses come off tells me the radiator is in the back.

Great shot Richard! I like the flames and that license plate says it all! I remember thinking that no one could fit into these small cars but they were actually quite roomy for being so compact!

Always like the little Bugs and this is so cool that they did so much to the little guy. I can't get over the small block crammed in the front and can see what you meant about the seats being back so far. Great one Richard !

Great capture and very neat car Richard. This one even looks like a fairly early model, aside from the modifications, of course.

I saw a Citroen 2CV one ( we call it a duck) with an 8 cilinder engine in the middle of the car. It was the powersorce so the engine was in use. Beautiful captures!
