A recently discovered an "overlooked" picture of mine from a trip out to the desert Southwest back in June 2006. The Grand Canyon is a marvel to see, but I found it to be quite a challenge from a photographer's perspective because the photographs cannot even begin to reveal the unique grandeur and splendor of the area. Standing on the rim of the canyon is standing on the edge of forever; it appears to be so vast one has the feeling it encompasses the entire planet. And you feel so small - your problems even smaller. And what small portion do you choose to frame in your tiny camera viewfinder? Stevie Wonder could take excellent photography there. Just point camera in ANY direction and press shutter. Initially I was disappointed when we returned home and downloaded our photos because what I remembered in my mind was NOT what I was seeing on my computer screen! I thought I had somehow failed in my mission. Very frustrating because it was my first and so far only visit to that incredible natural wonder. So I suppose that's why I skipped over this pic, along with countless others. But the other day while doing an inventory of my photography they didn't look so bad, it now being over two years since I actually stood there in complete awe.
