Description

Part of the land across Pelekane Bay had been altered and destroyed. Tons and tons of white coral was used to make a boat harbor just beyond those Keawe Trees. As a result, minimal water movement in the bay causing marine life to decline. No fishing, swimming or sunbathing allowed in this area in respect to its religious culture. And of course, sharks frequent this area. Aloha and thank you for viewing

A very interesting image.I like boat harbours when I have a boat but they really impose them selves over the natural. What is the stone formation in the foreground??

Beautiful capture. I find it most interesting that the people place the need for boat access right up there with the preservation of their own heritage. Aloha.

Thanks for your inside view of things. It is important. I am fairly balanced when it comes to man and nature but what a shame destroying all that white coral. Think how long it took to grow in the first place. Bill

Great shot! It is a amazing when people find beautiful things, and in trying to "better" it they seem to only make it worse. Even Hawaiian of old knew not to disburb the Gods. :)
