I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

A beautiful capture and such a cute nest, a bit disheartening for the male to have it torn up I would think.

Home is where the heart is. Yes, they are cute and most adept at their work. The nest has the shape of a Hershey Candy Kiss. Terrific macro, Carin!

I once saw one of these in action on a wild life programme, done with timed exposures and then animated. A very industrial litte bird, I winced as he kept flying in and out of the leathal spikes on that tree. I was expecting him to get skewered at any momment. Excellent capture Carin, I envy you being able to watch these birds on a regular basis. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!

Wonderful capture! :)

Super shot! I'm envious, Karin, I'd love to watch this going on. We do have a lot of different species in the garden, but they mostly build concealed nests, as the dangers here are different fromwhere you are!

What a mixed bag of pleasure and hate when they do that to a garden. I planted some reeds about 6 x 8 feet and they stopped ripping apart the other plants. Well captured and just something about us men: we never learn, lol.
