Description

I had been meaning to do this for quite a while and had it on a back burner so to say. Ronnie jogged my memory and so there you have it. Just simple textures off my house exterior walls. The top left is out the front with the sun shining, the other three are from the rear which is North facing and at this time of year no Sun shines in there what so ever. This stuff wich we call pebble dashing covers both front and back of the house. The walls are rendered with a mortar mix and then the crushed pebbles are litrally thrown at the wet mortar/cement. It is not recomended to brush bare skin against this external coating, it has devastating results. As you can see here, it is quite abrasive. Thanks for stopping by for a look and for any comments you care to make, each and every one is appreciated. CC is most welcome.

Ah glad you went out and shot this like you said you would, I remember my nans house was dashed, and I was ten years old and climbing a fence, I fell and slid down the wall, taking the skin off my calves and back, so I am fully aware of this stuff... Top notch captures mate :)

I love pebble-dashed houses!! I SA all of the older houses are plastered and painted but now the newer built houses are brick, not so much maintenance!! Some great shots there Jeff, really shows the rough textures.

Great texture shots, my friend. I never would have guessed it was the outside of your house! Something on the ground, perhaps, but not something vertical. Thanks!

This is also all new to me! I can't imagine this workign here when I see plaster, shingles, adobe and such falling off the sides of houses as it is. :-) Perhaps, the craftsmen here need to learn to improve the workmanship a bit and then we could have lovely siding like this applied without fear of having pebbles, gravel and stones rain down on us.

Great close-ups of textures. I recognised it as pebble dash straight away or should I say I would have been surprised if it wasn't. When I lived at home with my ex, two young ones and a mortgage, the old, End-terraced house we had was pebble-dashed just on the front wall facing North(I think). Ah the good ol' days lol.

The shadow in the top left image by the way is the lens of the camera, the sun was more or less behind me and I could not get out of it. I could have cloned it out but then you spoil the texture so I left it in.

Never heard of pebble dashing either. I really like the textures. It is the kind of thing that makes me want to feel the texture against my fingers, gently, of course. Very cool collage.

Oh! That is absolutely awesome! I have never seen that done! They have adobe finishes in California but this is very pretty. I wonder is it just a decorative covering or does it help with energy costs? I would think because rocks hold heat that it might be a good thing to do! I love the texture and the colors!

it is very common here for commercial buildings and believe it is very mean.I have brushed up aside doing painting on commercial buildings. even some stucco gives the same result.virtually no upkeep as long as there are foundation issues
