Description

The StarValkyries have never really loved their WristWeapons. They were The Future, once: weapons which were pretty well built into the soldiers' uniforms. The original WristWeapon, though, was a two-handed thing; it sat on one arm and needed the other hand to fire it. (You can see the disabled firing-button on the top of the current unit.) Soldiers rightly demanded to know how this was an improvement over a hand-operated gun. Mind-operated technology arrived just in time to rescue the concept. Grudgingly, troops are starting to come round to the idea of using one wrist-mount, in combination with a hand-held. Handguns remain much more potent and soldiers are not ready to forego that power, for the sake of fashion. The handgun/wristgun combination provides decent additional offensive power, though, while leaving one hand free for operating keypads and the like. Logically, the wrist-unit ought to be worn on the right arm, since most soldiers are right-handed, but you hardly ever see that (left-handers do always wear the wrist-unit on their right arms, but, again, in defiance of logic). The handgun is the main weapon and the soldier instinctively reserves the main hand for the primary weapon's operation. Another flaw in the original wristweapon design was the omission of a safety-catch. Incredibly, the first mind-operated versions of the system also lacked any physical safety-mechanism, but that has now been rectified.

Good looking image. I like the shiny uniforms, but soldiers need to blend into their surroundings, and not stand out so much, I would think. But still, they're cool looking.

Excellent storyline - no safety features on the mind weapons - oops - I'm glad you mentioned the poor left handed soldiers - they usually forget to design left handed devices LOL First class render - always fun to see your work
