Description

Nestled in the Inner Isles, Bigfoot Isle, later known as the Isle of the Unknown Plague, was once used by the Lords of the Isles as a safe haven from the winter south-westerlies. There was a naval base, three fishing ports, and some sheep farming, and wild bird harvesting on the cliffs. However, a mysterious illness killed off the resident population, mainly sept Hallen, and some Kern guardsmen, during the winter of the Two Prince Regents. Over half a century later, the Bailfur Princes, using their temporary naval advantage at that time, tried to claim the Isle for their Southern Lords, but their colonists also succumbed. Now only the mythical Bigfoot may be left on the isle, apart from the everpresent seeweed eating sheep. Fishing off the Isle is very rich, especially in the winter months, attracting even fishing fleets from across the Orcadian Sea. Bennet's Chronicles of the Islefolk, Gannet Press. The terrain used in this TERRAGEN offering was fashioned in my upgraded GEOCONTROL 2 BETA, where I churned out versions for VUE as well. I then opened one of the terrains up in TERRAGEN, and proceeded to take a dozen or so shots, after setting the sea level and settling on an atmosphere. I then set about varying the sunlight and the sea texture. This is not the most dramatic of the shots, but gives a flavour of the isle, that even now lives on in Dalriadan memory. Enjoy. Stay safe, and experience awe and wonder, as little children do - most of the time ... ;o) Warm regards, from a wet and windy Glasgow, John. Thanks, again, for viewing this offering and for your comments.

Authentic depiction of a driech, grey, overcast day on the Scottish coastline, with a nicely formed headland. Inspired by a wee peek out the window, no doubt.
