Description

Vue Render and story by me. Thanks so much for stopping by. Gill's Vue stuff is amazing, thanks. View full size if you have time. Don Excerpts from the diary of: Agatha Rose Hathaway 1846 - 1924 Saturday, October 4, 1919 7:00 PM. I had such a marvelous day today. I finally took the family car out by myself for the first time since my John passed away. It's been two long years since he left us and I miss him so much. We used to take these wonderful long drives together in the country. It took awhile to convince the kids that it was OK for me to take the car. I mean I have driven before, but it's been a while. They were probably just concerned about me and that's reassuring. I was so excited at the prospect of my trip today that I started packing and getting things ready last night. It's getting chilly in the mornings and in late afternoons these days so I made sure that it wore something warm and packed a light lunch for the trip home. It took me longer than I thought it would to finally reach the small town of Bailey. But I was so excited at finally getting there that I quickly forgot about the long drive. My husband and I always tried to get there early so that we could have breakfast together at the Bailey Grill. And that's where I went this morning. I was so pleased to find that the restaurant still looks the same as it used to. When the lady came to wait on me I didn't recognize her at first but to my amazement it was the same lady who always waited on us. She even remembered my name. I ordered our favorite breakfast of two eggs over easy, bacon and the most wonderful homemade biscuits, and they still serve them hot with butter, maple syrup and a wonderful selection of marmalades. I spent some time looking in the quaint old shops and then headed for home. On my way back I stopped for a bit of a picnic lunch by the old covered bridge and sat where John and I had sat so many times before. I spent some time after lunch walking down by the water and thought of the wonderful times we had here. I miss him so. I'm getting tired from my long day and better finish this tomorrow..... ARH
