Description

Sometimes nature shows a cruel side to us. This female Merlin gave me a few second opportunity, she had recently killed a Western Meadow Lark. Merlins are one of our smaller raptors and birds are one of there favorite meals. The BG (background) you see here is bokeh, often people ask me why I erased the BG. Of course I haven't. This is a desired effect of a super tele-photo lens. Canon 30D Canon 500L IS + 1.4x thanks for looking

an extremely sharp shot and classic pose, especially good for being a wild bird, but eeeerm you have got the gore IN the thumb, i don't think you meant to do that ?
