Description

AloooooooooHa! My son Jon was patient enough with me and drove me around in San Diego several days trying to catch some pelicans in flight. We found a nice spot at the mouth of a harbor which had many pelicans flying by, or landing nearby. I thought this would be quite easy to catch these guys as they flew around within range. How wrong I was! It was quite a chore trying to get these guys in the right light, sharp, with nice wing positions, etc. My hats off to all the great bird photogs on this site, not as easy as it looks. I caught this guy as he flew by me into the harbor. This supposedly is a Brown Pelican adult. From it's plumage it's a non breeding adult. There were literally hundreds of these guys in the area. So I'll just post this one for now and spare you the agony of the rest. Thanks for dropping by and for your kind comments on my last post...A hui hou~ Aloha~

Cool action shot David. I know how difficult it is to capture birds in flight. Especially, BIG birds. Aloha, great capture.

Awesome feather detail. Glad you got one out of all of those that came from every direction. It was quite entertaining watching you dance with your massive lense on the tri-pod. Kinda like you were working a spotlight at a sporting event. Great shot Dad! This was Mission Bay Park.
