Au début de l’humanité, il y a quelques milliers d’années, l’observation des astres ne leur servait qu’à marquer certaines étapes dans le déroulement du temps. Bien sûr, l’alternance du jour et de la nuit, les phases de la Lune et la position changeante des planètes retinrent rapidement leur attention. Ils remarquèrent également très vite que le mouvement du Soleil parmi les étoiles marquait l’enchaînement des saisons, ce qui était d’une très grande importance pour l’agriculture. Les premières découvertes n’ont été que très subjectives, mais elles eurent pour conséquence directe d’exciter la curiosité des hommes qui ne tardèrent pas à rechercher la cause de tous ces phénomènes jusqu’alors uniquement observés. De là découlent les premières mesures précises de la position des astres. D’abord uniquement observation, l’étude du ciel devint petit à petit une véritable science à part entière.Les premiers principes découverts furent d’abord attribués à des êtres supérieurs, et non considérés comme des conséquences directes d’autres lois régissant les relations des corps entre eux. Pendant longtemps, on attribua même une action sur notre existence à la position des planètes dans le ciel, du Soleil le long du zodiaque et aux phases de la Lune. Malgré sa base irrationnelle et sa crédibilité douteuse, l’astronomie doit beaucoup à l’astrologie, en ce qu’elle provoqua chez les hommes un très grand intérêt envers les astres. L’astronomie se démarque depuis toujours des autres sciences. Elle est en effet, dans son essence même, une science basée sur l’observation et non sur l’expérimentation, comme les sciences physiques ou la chimie. Les astronomes ne peuvent faire des expériences sur le milieu qu’ils tudient, mais doivent se contenter de l’observer et de tirer des conclusions de leurs observations. C’est ce qui explique que les progrès de l’astronomie sont directement liés au développement des instruments d’observation, bien plus que pour toute autre science. At the beginning of humanity, a few thousands of years ago, the observation of the stars was only used to them to mark certain stages in the course of time. Of course, the alternation of the day and the night, the phases of the Moon and the changing position of planets held their attention quickly. They also noticed very quickly that the movement of the Sun among stars marked the sequence of the seasons, which was of very great importance for agriculture. The first discovered ones were only very subjective, but they had as a direct consequence to excite the curiosity of the men who were not long in seeking the cause of all these phenomena hitherto only observed. From there the first precise measurements rise from the position of the stars. Initially only observation, the study of the sky gradually became a true science with whole share. The first principles discovered were initially allotted to beings higher, and not considered as direct consequences of other laws governing the relations of the bodies between them. For a long time, one allotted even a share on our existence to the position of planets in the sky, the Sun along the zodiac and with the phases of the Moon. In spite of its irrational base and its doubtful credibility, astronomy must much with astrology, in what it caused at the men a very great interest towards the stars. Astronomy is dissociated since always other sciences. It is indeed, essentially, a science based on the observation and not on the experimentation, like physical sciences or chemistry. The astronomers cannot make experiments on the medium which they tudient, but must be satisfied to observe it and draw the conclusions with their observations. It is what explains why progress of astronomy is directly related to the development of the instruments of observation, much more than for any other science.

Stunning sky chart of early times, perhaps influenced by visitations of aliens to early civilizations. Later civilizations, such as ours, no longer believe these things happened. They instead rely only on what their eyes can see, thus needing more and better arrays of telescopes of humongous magnifications, even some built out just beyond our atmosphere in order to attain clarity not possible when having to deal with the atmosphere. Another magnificent render and commentary. Excellent using the light background, thus making it appear more like an actuall chart then a fractal!
