Description

This is for my friend Lori, also known as (scifibabe). She is a very close friend and one of the nicest people I've ever met. Lori does super work in Poser and Mixed Medium and her gallery is a must. My personal favorites are her paintings as she truly has a talent for bringing those images to life. Several times when I have been a bit sad Lori has made me feel better with her sense of humor and this is my humble way of saying thanks. Lori shared many great stories with me that I loved. This story stood out the most because it shows how people from different cultures can unite. Hope for smiles, Dave Unspoken Miracle (For scifibabe): Lori and her Mom would vacation each year to Huntington Beach South Carolina to enjoy the beaches. Late one day they were heading back to their camper and decided to go back through the beach. They saw something moving about in the sand but couldn't tell what it was. As they approached Lori was excited to see it was a large sea turtle thrashing about. A couple vacationing from France arrived and watched the turtle with them. Then a couple from Germany stopped to watch the turtle also. Suddenly the Momma turtle began laying her eggs and everyone witnessed this small miracle. It didn't matter that none of the people in his little group could understand each other. All that mattered was they shared in this unspoken miracle of birth, and for these few moments had something wonderful in common. After she finished the Momma turtle covered her eggs in the sand and went back into the water. She was able to bring people together without saying a word. P.S. Please be patient with me as I hurt my hand and it is hard to type so it will take me a while to thank everyone :)

Excellent work. I went on a holiday to Bundaburg, Queensland, Australia and watched the turtles coming up at night to lay eggs. We were the last group to be taken to the beach at 2AM!! When I saw the turtle come up and lay her eggs (approx 100) I forgot about how tired I was. Magical.

I absolutely adore this! Turtle is one of my totems and I can only imagine being close to one that size! Beautiful story and image, your friend was so lucky! It brings to mind the cockatiel that I had. Penelope Pitstop or P Birda:-) I had only had her about 6 months when I noticed her pacing on the floor of her cage...to my amazement there was an egg there and I watched as she laid two more over a couple hours of time. I don't know why but it never occurred to me that she would lay eggs. Unfortunately there was no male involved so her eggs became a knick knack om my shelf. She died at 9 years old but I will never forget her or that moment. She was a loving little thief, lol! I never closed her cage door and she would ride on the dogs back, took showers with me, loved spaghetti and tacos if they had hot sauce and peas! She cleaned my hair with her beak and then would ever so gently pull my earrings out and fly off to her cage with them. You are certainly giving me some glorious memories Dave!

This image and story have special meaning to me because of a very moving article I read many years ago about the Green Turtles that lay clutches on the beaches in Florida. A resident there noticed that a lot of baby turtles were dying on the roads that ran along the beaches. He discovered that when they hatched at night, they confused the city lights for the lights on the ocean and went the wrong way. The article was all about his efforts to protect the baby turtles and steer them in the proper direction. They are still endangered for many reasons, but the coastal counties have introduced lighting ordinances to reduce hatchling disorientations. Excellent image and story! Lovely cool blues against the warm sand. Beautiful shadows. I like that your excellent use of touch, very noticeably extends to the shadow of the couple on the far left. I love the touch of Lori's mother on Lori's shoulder. It expresses love in several ways. There is the touch of affection, and also the touch of protection, both of Lori and of the turtle. While not restricting in anyway, Lori's enjoyment of the moment, the hand is there to gently restrain her, if in her excitement, she got too close to the turtle. Lori's mom and the others seem divided in there attention, between the turtle and Lori's enjoyment of it. Beautiful image, full of light and the joy of living!

Absolutely beautiful image, composition, colors, characters! The items complete the picture with magic and teaching people of different origins and language (with communication problems) can be found around this creature that lay their eggs and are to rejoice together for the event (aside the problem ) and they understood all the same thing. Life is a great teacher !
