Happy Birthday To Me
Yes, today's my birthday and I'm feeling pretty darn good. This has been quite a year for me, full of surprises, changes, travels, people, love and a bit of sadness. I've done things I never thought I'd do, taken chances, gone to places I never expected to see. I've made a couple of very big decisions, the kind that are life changing. There are people who are no longer in my life for wildly different reasons. On the flip side, I've very recently reconnected with an old friend. It always comes down to the same old thing~~~for every action, there's an equal and opposite reaction.
Even as I add another year to those I already have, I feel better, younger, freer, and far more powerful. There's been a huge shift in the way I look at things, the way I react (if that sounds familiar, check this out~~~A Change In My Mind), and how it all affects me. There's still a lot I don't know, wonder about, but to use an old cliche', "everything happens for a reason".
So, today I'll celebrate, hang with one of my good and great friends, and enjoy the day. It's as easy as that.

I stopped celebrating birthdays when I got divorced. Now I celebrate the vague fading reality of conception day. Finding pictures of various Immaculate Conception churches or Conception Abbey can be heartening. I realize there are more Josephs out there to whom conception is denied. Advent kept reversing birth and death. Now I am free of the knowlege of a day I beame a burden.

lovely feelings, and I resonate with all you say. (And perfectly written. I intend to read your writing, I just haven't gotten to it yet but I will...) I lost a few people this year, though due to passing but it's still loss, and it is truly hard...but others take their place, and new life blooms everywhere.
