Is he anything like Joe the Plumber? This definitely has an old fashioned ambiance about it, like say the year 1918 at the beach in Santa Monica? I like the little barnacles on the surfboard. Or is that mud?

I always wondered what happened after the Marine Corps cut off Surfer Joe's "big blond locks" and he caught a cold. Looks like Joe decided to keep the chrome dome. Superb photo and way cool song reference. (Surfer Joe was the "B" side of "Wipe Out" on my old 45 rpm record. Thanks for the memory.)
