Description

Hello all!!! Another one from my August trip to Michigan. After dinner My Mom and I stopped at this southern Michigan beach in New Buffalo . I was drawn to this little lighthouse and the setting sun that evening. Played with it in paintshop today ( did a little bit of softening and smudging to try and remove some of the grain ) . Was on the fence about whether or not to put this one up as it is kinda dark but figured hey most people like sunsets and lighthouses so why not?... hehe uhm I think this lighthouse is so little its not registered as a true state lighthouse of Mi but it was still cute!( the red lettering on the light house was not a font I added but was just part of the lighthouse there). There was a beautiful dappled cloud & layered sky, and small boats returning to the little cove that night... those Michigan beaches really leave you wanting to come back again and again ~! I feel fortunate to make the yearly trip there each summer ! Thanks for all your time and comments ! Love to all ~!!! ((( BIG HUGS ))) ~ Kimmers ! ♥ :O)

This a knockout! This photo has everything...and you were not sure if we'd like it? Actually, I know what you mean...sometimes I'll post something I'm not in love with and lo and behold it goes over far better than something I initially think is better??? That's the fun thing about Rendo...the feedback from all these other wonderful photographers. Bill

somehow the atmosphere is invisible yet almost touchable...you got a sense of silk in there somewhere...invisible silk. There's always a special beauty to anything caught in front of the setting sun, because the backside always has a deep amber glow. This is all dark & shyness, while the deep reddish sunset must be lighting up the lighthouse with dazzling hues on the other side. I like that you let flare stay (I assume that's flare—in front of the lighthouse? it's beautiful how it strokes the shot). And the lamp soars quietly into those dramatic clouds. But that sky...it's a symphony of silks culminating in a beautiful sun & it's reflection; and the lone bird gives it all grace...I've been there, probably seen that very lighthouse, and know the beach & land and its strange silence and gentleness. Parts of it are almost desolate—or at least where when I was there years back—and felt like a place where you could take out your soul and air it out on the beach while you napped close by. The area always felt quiet and very peaceful. And then you come along and capture the burst in it all...a radiant silken shot.
