Description

I think fall has finally arrived here, this photo I took last weekend while out on a hike, in the Smokies, (the Great Smokey Mountain National Park) and we hiked on a trail called Panther Creek, I think we went about 4 miles up and then of course back down, if you keep on that trail you will end up on the Appalachian Trail which is a 2,175 mile trail that extends from the state of Georgia and up north into the state of Maine, I wasn’t quite up for that one LOL, but we got a nice little work out, and it was great to be out enjoying the Autumn colors.

like michael says, simply profound...there is much going on here but in a way it's one vision, everything with & behind this beautiful tree with its luminous red leaves. And not only does the color dominate, but the leaves themselves do, their finger-like presence dancing against the background. The landscape itself parallels the dip of the tree's leaves (subtle & perfect composition choice) and I see there are actual colors back there, not the fall you hoped for, I realize, but it's still turned and gently glowing. Almost Oriental in balance and delicacy, this is a beautiful shot. And btw, I walked the Appalachian trial only starting in Maine, and never got out of Maine, but there was a feeling that we were connected to a lifeline that ran through a big chunk of this country, and which connected to an ancient tradition of peoples who came long before us. Beautiful shot Lynell.
