Description

On September 28, 1979, the telescope Canada-France-Hawaii (TCFH) was inaugurated on l' one of the best sites d' observation on the ground of l' northern hemisphere, at the top of Mauna-Kea, an extinct volcano culminating to 4200 m d' altitude in l' island d' Hawaii in the United States. The enormous scientific potential concentrated with the TCFH allowed a series of big firsts during a quarter century: detection of the black matter by measurement of the gravitational astigmatism; discovered the many new moons around planets of the solar system and of asteroids; first observation of Titan the fogs through of its atmosphere, proof that there was more of water over Mars in the past; observation of a stellar storm caused by a planet 'extrasolaire', observation of a planet orbits of around of it; one of the two components of a double star, observation of a quasar through a gravitational lens… These successes must to the researchers qu' as much; to a close cooperation enters the three organizations which perdure since 1974.
