Description
This past week Julia (Lil' Sizzler) and I went on an expedition to the Smoky Mountains hoping to capture the glory of the mountains in autumn's glow. From one perspective we failed because I'm now convinced it can't be done. You must actually surround yourself with the explosion of color to fully comprehend it. But considering all that, from another perspective I'd say we were quite successful.
Timing is crucial because the different elevations peak their colors at different times, starting with the highest. Although I've been to the Smokies several times in the fall, I've never seen them more beautiful than they were this past week. It was quite overwhelming.
One of the days was raining, and all the fog in such abundance was a subtle reminder of how they got their name in the first place.
We also took the Blue Ridge Parkway to Asheville, North Carolina, and that whole region was in a blaze of color as well. This picture was on the rainy/foggy day on the Blue Ridge Parkway shortly after leaving the Great Smoky Mountains Park, which is where it originates. It's an amazing drive, to say the least!

This looks so much like NH. Timing is key to fall shots. This has a place in the book though, reality is always accepted and welcome in the photograph. Your foggy day brings a softer light. Glad you enjoyed the drive. Excellent!
