Description

The vue version. A recent archaeological discovery by the team of professor Michael Daz brings about certain interesting elements with respect to the chronicles of the 3rd circle from Anaithnid the bard. In particular, the site excavation uncovered a two-tiered base of circular stone, broken down in three fragments. The base presented holes partially blocked by calcinated wood residues. A spectrographic analysis reveals that the wood used was a type of elm that has been extinct for more than 8000 years. This dating corresponds roughly to the period where Anaithnid situates the disappearance of the Elven people. The Elves' specialists see, in this discovery, nothing less than the reappearance of the famous Elven Queen's throne. This throne is described more precisely in chapter II of the Book III of the Chronicles, under the reign of Meralden; who is the last known Elven Queen to this day. Anaithnid narrates the story of a man's allegiance to the Elven Queen. This very exceptional custom in the community of the Elves allowed privileged humans to live permanently amongst the Elves. However, the individuals who benefited from this status were considered as pariahs by their fellow men. During this ceremony, the subject was to kneel down before the Queen without ever looking at her. If his glance crossed that of the queen ever so slightly, he was put to death immediately. We know for a fact that during the rebellion of the Humans against the Elves, all the buildings and possessions of the Elven people were destroyed and burned. However, the remains of the items that were found effectively seem to correspond to Anaithnid's description. Here is the passage in which he describes the throne: "Looking down from her throne Meralden gauged the man kneeling down before her at the foot of the two-tiered pedestal as he trembled feverishly. All the time, Meralden's fingers tapped nervously at the solid royal elm armrests. The guard approached the throne and then bent over the stone (gold ?) decorated balustrade to query the wishes of his queen ... " The end of the story tells how Meralden had the man executed for failing to deserve the honor conferred upon him... At this time, a doubt subsists as to the identity of the throne since the golden orbs ornating the balustrades encircling the throne according to Anaithnid's description are nowehere to be found.
