I dont think of myself as an artist - more a creatively minded laymen. Im blessed with perpetual inspiration, but cursed by a lack of talent.
I have always loved to sketch, and on the odd occasion even paint. Unfortunately for me, a real world canvas doesnt have an undo button. This is why, back in 1996, I first started toying with a Shareware version of Paint Shop Pro (found on the cover of a magazine). I knew almost instantly that digital art was for me.
Fast forward to 2006, when I discovered a highly under-rated (yet unfortunately limited) program called FaceGen. Within hours of tinkering with the software I was creating realistic characters well beyond anything I could have managed via traditional mediums. But what to do about bodies for my newly created digital brethren?
I took it upon myself to scour the internet in search of a 3D software package that was flexible enough to fulfil my specific needs, while still being NOOB friendly. Untimely I didnt want to spend months, or even years deciphering the ins and outs of 3D Studio Max for instance.
It wasnt long before I caught digital whisperings of a program called Poser, which lead me eFrontiers very own site.
In search of more examples of Poser art I found myself inevitably at Renderosity...and I havent looked back since.
The community here is certainly a mixed bunch (as are all communities, online especially), but in the great majority they have proven to be incredibly helpful, and wonderfully supportive.
If you plan on commenting on my images (and I certainely hope you do) while praise is always appreciated, critical analysis and constructive criticism is encouraged.
Happy rendering!

Well done! M4 is fun to play around with!

excellent work so far the details on his face are brilliant but i do think his legs look a bit to skinny for his body but thats just what i think.
elisheba
He reminds me of Morpheus... he would look amazing with a black skin! :D
mikeerson
poor man, he doesn't have any balls... maybe in the render.

actually, this has done more to make me want to buy M4 than anyone else's work with him. you've done more to give him an original look than i've seen so far. his body looks somehow wrong to me, but i couldn't say what's off. maybe the size of his pecs as compared to the size of the his torso? having seen your Apollo figures, it looks to me like an M4, not a morph, weakness. i don't think his legs are too skinny, but too toned. actually, men with that build usually have much thinner legs. and anyway, if you were going for pure realism, i'd say make his eyes larger or bring them closer together and narrow the bridge of his nose by about 1/2. but he's very much in your personal style instead of stringently accurate, which i think is by far the better choice. i think it says a great deal about the level of artistry, especially of a Poser user, when the artist doing the work matters more than the content creator.

elisheba - You're right. In fact, I did quick test renders using black and white textures, and found that the both worked quite nicely. :) Thank you cobalt. For the compliment, and the valuably feedback. You've hit the nail on the head! I couldn't put my finger on it, but I see it now. The pecs need some serious adjustment (size and shape). It's a shame that the M4 chest morphs don't really seem designed for pecs, but appear to simply be a slight variance on the V4 breast morphs. Oh, and I agree with you about the legs also; they need to be less toned, not more. I wanted to do much more tuning with this morph, but M4 at this stage simply doesn't allow it. My main annoyance is with the lack of scaling options (much like with V4). I guess I've been spoiled with Apollo. And God only knows why Daz failed to include an Adams Apple! At least that's one thing that can be fixed incredilby easily with the morph tool in Poser 7. I'll probably buy M4, if only to round out my catalogue of figures...but I see myself keeping Apollo as my go-to figure for Male characters.

I really love his face, it has so much character. His legs are fine, in my opinion, perhaps his ankles are a little thick? I guess I can see what the others are saying about the pecs, it didn't really jump out at me. Funny the things we notice, isn't it? Really great morph, can't wait to see him textured and clothed (please).
ArtPearl
I like his head, successful gentle giant. I'll join Orinoor in the expectation for a textured render.
AnAardvark
Looks great. Somewhat muscled but pudgy.

Honestly, I think the pecs are fine. He's just a big barrel chested guy is all. I'd like to see a bit more fat around his mid section though, and a little less tone on the abs. I think that would make the pecs look more in proportion. Not sure about the pose. It looks like he's trying to control my mind "look into my eyes, not around the eyes..." His legs are fine. They just look a little negelected and don't seem to have your stamp on them. I'd love to see him textured and rendered properly (in both black and white skin).

I think softening the mid-section a little, by which I mean losing some abdominal definition, is a great idea BTB; and would justify the slight man-boobedness (it's not a word, but I'm using it anyway). The legs are what they are I'm afraid. The M4 morphs are so incredibly limited in the leg department, as are the scaling options. I did what I could, but I'm not happy with them either. To make matters worse (now look what you've gone and started BTB) I'm finding it impossible to save this morph as a 'Pose'. I'm instead having to save the entire 'Figure'; which would make sharing the character all the more difficult, if not impossible. Am I the only person having this problem? I'll render one, possible two images with this morph, but I doubt I'll go as far as releasing the character as a freebie. It's simply more trouble than it's worth working with M4 (in it's current iteration at least). I hate to sound like a fanboy, but Apollo really is a superior figure in practically all areas. Not to mention the incredible fact that it is free! Just my opinion.

You do such wonderful characters, I've seen most of your pieces over at DAZ, and noticed you here via somebody's favs. I've read Apollo 08/09 is on it's way, I wish people would create an Apollo version of their clothes etc., when modelling, I'm sure it's been the topic of discussion many a time. I must knuckle down and learn to push the polys, it can be so restricting having to use other peoples stuff, although that can be off-putting as well as some of it is awesome and makes me think why bother. Anyway top work and I love your intro page/write-up/introduction.
