Description

Thirty-one in a series of classic vehicles, captured 9/21/08, at the beautiful Palos Verdes Concours d'Elegance, held annually at the beautiful Trump National Golf Club on the beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula in overpopulated Southern California. For more information on this event, see my posting for 9/28/08. This is a real beauty, a veritable missile on wheels, and a seeming anachronism for the year it was built. Even the jaded judges were impressed and couldn't get enough of it. I thought at first it was a 2008 model and was stunned seeing the year 1964 on the windshield. Technical Specifications: Engine: Four-cylinder twin-valve induction engine (Boxer), air-cooled, four overhead camshafts. Power: 180 HP at 7.800 RPM. Displacement: 1.966 cc. Fuel system: Two Weber downdraft carburetors, 110 litre fuel tank. Transmission: Five-speed gearbox, locking differential. Chassis: Sheet-steel box-type chassis with plastic body, coil springs, disc brakes. Dimensions & Weight: Wheel base 2.300 mm. Length: 4.090 mm. Height: 1.065 mm. Weight: 530 kg/1420 lb. Performance: Top speed approx. 263km/hr-163.4mph. Source: Porsche Thanks for the visit, and have a splendiferous Sunday.

Amazing considering the fact that this car is 44 years old! Great presentation on your part...as with all thirty previous images. Read a book several years ago about Dr. Porshe during WW II. Did you know they built tanks? Imagine writing to your mother as a WW II German soldier, "Got a new Porshe today". Bill

Lovely pics and car. If you like putting your back out to get in. No good to me, nowhere to put the horse poo or the shrubs from the nursery, or 4 dogs.

It looks to me like a V-8 with three webers but what do I know. The 928 might be a descendent. It also has a 12 volt battery by the number of filler caps. But that is details. Let's get this baby in the wind tunnel and really wring her out. Targa Florio! Carrera Pan America!?? Maybe just a hill climb car.

It does look quite futuristic and out of place for 1964~ Great collage.
