Description

Thirty-two in a series of classic vehicles, captured 9/21/08, at the beautiful Palos Verdes Concours d'Elegance, held annually at the beautiful Trump National Golf Club on the beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula in overpopulated Southern California. For more information on this event, see my posting for 9/28/08. In 1957 the Triumph TR3A was introduced as a replacement for its predecessor, the TR3. The 3A featured improved design and mechanics, resulting in a top speed of 105 mph. The vehicle featured a four-cylinder, 95 horsepower engine. The overall weight of the vehicle tipped the scale at 2200 pounds, meaning horsepower to weight ratio was excellent. Throughout its life span, larger brakes and engine modifications were introduced. The TR series has been a familiar scene in racing competition and club events ever since their inception. Modifications such as Weber carburetors and improved transmissions are a favorite for many competitors and SCCA contenders. During the TR3A's production run, lasting from 1957 through 1961, around 58,000 were created. Source: Conceptcarz.com The background was slightly blurred and darkened in the top two photos to emphasize the automobile. Thanks for coming by, and have a monumentally momentous Monday.

This was the first foreign sports car to appear in the small town I grew up in. This one with the Rudge knockoffs and wire wheels is a bit fancier. Your photos really make it leap out again.

Hooray, finally a car that I had...actually, I had a 1963 TR-3B which looked almost identical to the TR-3A. It was a good car but not for carrying much gear and the detachable windows were no fun...nor was putting the top up and getting the fasteners snapped when it was raining. But it was a fun car in top down weather. Excellent pics and presentation. Thanks for reminding me of good times. Bill
