Description

It is early November, 1941. While Europe has been at war for three years, America has enjoyed the benefits of peace. A newly married rural couple have come into their local Mid-western town for their weekly shopping and to enjoy Saturday night out. Little do they and their fellow Americans realize that their pleasant life will abruptly vanish in four weeks. Seven days into December, America will be at war. Within a few months, Mitchell will be drafted into the United States Navy. One year, ten months, and twenty-nine days after his induction, Roxie will be a widow with a small baby. However, today, it's Saturday--the big going to town day--and Roxie snuggles up against her new husband's arm, full of love for him, confident that they will have many happy years together. _________________________________ A bittersweet theme, I guess; but what my parents' generation experienced. Back then, practically everyone was intimately connected to the war through oneor more loved ones. Today, it seems only our military families have to suffer these things--again and again, and yet again. I used to be against the draft but the older I get, the more I think that is the only way that our elected leaders will begin to use our military personnel with wisdom instead of recklessness. When it is their sons and daughter who are doing the serving..... Thanks for looking. Comments are appreciated. Jeremy PS. Today is election day. I didn't go because I voted early. I won't say who I voted for but I will tell you that it wasn't for any maverick!! smile. Seriously, this election is truly a "nail-biter." CREDITS: Vue Pro Studio 6, Poser 6. Nice scene, and a good commentary. I voted two weeks early, and only now can I relax.

Great work, great story! About that draft, I don't think they sons and daughters will ever be in a dangerous war scene... if they'll ever be drafted...
