Description

More mist again today.. while yesterday's shot was taken on the journey home, this was taken on the way out, near the end of our driveway where I hopped out of the car and went exploring the foliage in the mist. To me these woods seemed so still, peaceful and otherworldly, hence the title (not in the mood for a mundane one today ;)) The 'effect' was mainly achieved through a combination of different filters at varying opacities, using Optikverve Labs' free and rather good Virtual Photographer plug-in. Though I've had it for a number of months I've only recently been exploring the possibilities of blending different filters in different modes, and there are so many little sliders to tweak for a customised finish to your pic... if you have photoshop I'd recommend giving it a little look: Virtual Photographer. Excellent shot and postwork mate, virtual photographer is a grand plugin, I have had it ages now, but rarely use it, will have to look at that :), I like the aged newspaper preset in it, and the glamour one that is deliciously OTT, and some of the B and W settings aren't bad either:)

I do admire your patience, Adam, with all this fiddling and tweaking! Your results are SUPERB and I love looking at them , but I just can't be bothered myself. If it doesn't come out right from the camera, apart from maybe a crop,fill-light and sharpen, then into the bin it goes!

Virtual Photographer was the first plug-in I ever got, and I couldn't live without it. When I want something a bit different in an image than what's really there, it's the first place I go. Applying a filter and backing it off a bit allows for some pretty fine conrol! This is a gorgeous shot, btw! :)
