Description

I thought I would show a closer few of these cars. A few of you asked where this was, it was along highway (I-127) off interstate I-40 in Crossville TN, I was looking for an old mill which I did find, and will post soon, and I came across this place, there must have been hundreds maybe thousands of old cars out there. There was a car that a tree and ivy were growing inside, an old Chevy station wagon full of discarded hubcaps, I was amazed. I didnt go back as far in as I may have liked I was alone and as cool of a place as it was I started to feel a little spooked, but I would love to go back and explore it more. Any explorers out there want to join me? On the way to find the mill I also came across an old general store, that I of course stopped to see, and it was like stepping back in time. And NO David this isn't in my back yard. LOL

I wasn't too sure on which to choose for a genre, transportation? Not too sure how far you would get in these old beauties.

Thanks to all for your support and comments and views on my last upload.

Where I grew up, things like that appeared out of nowhere. Usually there weren't many in one spot...just one in the middle of nowhere and sometimes they were stacked, other times not. I used to wonder how on earth cars ended up on top of each other like that in the middle of a cow pasture miles from the nearest road! Great shot. Very "human."

Love this closer view, like I said yesterday, it's a shame to classics like this, but they do make a great shot, and I don't blame you at being spooked

Now these were the classics in the day...at least they were built to last and not made of plastic as our new cars today were. Awesome photo you took. I can't say that I blame you that you were spooked though. Go with someone if you revisit the place.

I had in my backyard an old german motorcycle, abandoned since WWII... it ended up in junkyard about 30 yrs later, when my pop got tired to see it over there... Great shot, congrats!*****

Really excellent. It is strange how all the colours just seem to fit in so perfectly. Very well done. :)

Crazy to think at one time these cars were shiny and bright. With that "new car smell". It's a great shot. I generally like these rust bucket photos. Sounds like a cool area to hang out. If I was out there, I would explore with ya!! Well done.

When I went in the junkyards in Tennessee with Bobby and his hawk we walked on the tops and hoods of the cars to avoid any copperheads. This was over 50 years ago and those copperheads have probably moved on.

Wow, oxidation at its most appealing! Before I would go rummaging around that metal and floral debris I would definitely get a tetanus booster and carry along a snakebite kit, maybe even a shotgun. Anyway, vivid colors and contrasts in this fine composition, Lynell.

I can see why you didn't go in too far here you wouldn't know what you may have found. Great capture of the autumn feeling here.

Hmm. I've seen shots of insects in the same position, do you suppose they're mating? Maybe that's where those little Smartcars come from? Great shot!
