Description

There are nights when the skies are filled with more stars that you'll ever see from within the borders of a large and noisy city. There are days when clots of fog float along the Vltava, as if tethered on long filaments of invisible silk. On still other days, friends visit, bearing walnuts in a plastic bag—procured from some obscure place: a hidden grove, perhaps, or simply from the river itself. It's amazing what the Vltava sometimes carries: strange, ill-defined objects that may or may not be of social-human origin. At any rate, there were walnuts in a well used plastic bag and a friend with hints of dirt beneath his nails: neat black crescents like parenthetical brackets enclosing all that he touched. We smoked—as is so common in the central and eastern reaches of Europe. We drank beer and finished with stronger stuff. We ate walnuts to cut the aftertaste... **** As always, thank you for viewing and reading and commenting, and hopefully everyone is at the start of a great weekend.

Walnuts are the perfect way to share some conversation and beer with a friend, and this one has a heart inside. CC

Nice shot. Brings memories to me of summers sitting on the porch with my grandma shelling walnuts, that we would freeze, then use for Christmas baking :)

Very excellent capture; they seem so carefully placed, side by side, like an old long-married couple who know their places on the church pew, and sit quietly waiting...

Gorgeous photography! I don't like walnuts, but it's the taste, not the visual. :)
