Description

I thought I had it all figured out when I made Confrontation Under the Bridge, but I was wrong. It turns out that I need to adjust the material settings more to get the right cell-shaded effect. I think I have it now. I love the way this picture turned out. In addition to improving the material settings to get the cell-shading to look right, I also changed the way I did the background. In my recent image, Confrontation Under the Bridge, I used Carrara's non-photorealistic render option to produce a background that looked like it had been hand painted. This time, I just produced a normal photorealistic render with a very simplistic light scheme, and it looks good. I was afraid that a photorealistic render in the background would contrast too much with the cell shaded render in the foreground, but in this case, it looks fine. I think it may depend on the situation, how it should be handled. I think with trees, you should make it look more painted, but with unnatural things, likebuildings and walls, its OK to be photorealistic. You can see all of my galleries at chris.anidev.net.
