As a child I would look at images like this for hour after hour and not interact with them for they were too complex for my tiny hands. When I was allowed to build puzzles they for a long time were very hard. I specifically remember one called Erie towpath. Somehow the canalboat and the very vaguely recognizable tow horse and line made it possible to take action on the non-interlocking pieces.
