Description

They seemed harmless enough, just a bunch of trees scattered amongst the muddy tide flats...just an old superstitious tale passed down from generation to generation, tribal elders using scare tactics and ol' heebiejeebie ghost stories to ward off would-be intruders with tales of "killer trees" that came to life and caught unaware visitors off guard.Well,he wasn't scared of no freakin' foliage! As he steered his craft through the stand of motionless trees he slipped closer to the last of the group, the wings of his tiny ship almost brushing the surface of the long, slender leaves. He let out a satisfied,told-you-so guffaw...and never heard the sound of branch against air as the plant recoiled and then whiplashed outwards in a sudden, violent attack. Another image using a plant from the Alien Botanicals pack from Daz3D,along with my dragonfly ship modelled entirely in Bryce 6.1 and textured in a preset mat.Sky,atmo and lighting are customs, mossy rock texture is from cgtextures.com.Rendered in Premium with soft shadows.Postwork in Photoshop includes sig, exhaust trails, contrast adjustment and blurring of ship and two plants with blur tool. Thanks for viewing and all your comments!

Wicked foliage, Neil. Poor guy didn't know what grabbed him so quickly. Great narrative to go with the render.

Terrific! I like this. Puts me in mind of a Natl Geographic program about life forms on an alien planet, most advanced were a couple flying types jet powered bird and a gas bag; then too was a large ground covering creature, a forrest back. these trees are perfect addition to that type world. :-)

I really love those trees, they look amazing, good work. The landscape though I don't like as much. I think its the contrast in colors from rock to clay/earth it looks too harsh. I love the brightness of the trees, that goldy yellow really pops against that skyline, great work!
