Description
I have had these sitting on my hard drive for quite a few weeks since early September actually and never got round to uploading them. Ronnie's upload of today jogged my memory so here they are. I used to make Rose Hip wine many years ago, I have never come across an harvest quite as large as this though. They are on the roadside at the entrance to a retail park, which is about to be knocked down and rebuilt. This Rose bush must be forty yards long at the very least and its about six foot high and eight feet deep. I have never noticed it in bloom and the only reason I saw it here was because I was at the Fire Station Open Day and they took a parade across from the retail park to the Fire Station. I actually thought of going back to harvest them for some wine, but there must have been a van load of them and I have not brewed wine or beer for 15 years. I was tempted though, I managed to resist it. They were as large as small crab apples, I have never seen them as big as these were anywhere before.
Thanks for stopping by for a look and for any comments you care to make.

Wonderful! What a stupendous crop! I expect all sorts of smaller hip lovers will make full use of them during the winter months. I think the shrubs are a marvellous thing for councils to plant, they are so rugged as well as attractive. Super pics.

They do resembly radishes, don't they. Such beautiful bright red hips and with the mass of them, I can think of rose hip tea through the winter with no trouble. Fabulous shots and great presentation.
