Description

It's tough to get a good pic through an airliner's window, but this view didn't turn out half bad with a little assistance from Photoshop.

As I try to convey my sense of rules of thumb it is hard for me to be familiar with any particular audience how they will respond to what I see as useable performance. I don't know much about helicopters in terms of operations so I use slang and dialog that really makes folks upbraid at time. Idle and boards, roll inverted and pull through doesn't realy jive with reduce collective, differential to roll to a heading for a a descent to a hover, or anti-parrallel until you intercept the pattern then a 2 g turn to intercept the ILS, outer marker, maximum flaps, power up to avoid high sink. You get the idea. I hate anyone who talks about common sense in casual contact. There are eagles and there are vultures. Egrets fly different than pelicans.

There's a great tutorial for X-Plane that brings one in for an ILS landing here; sure looks familiar!!

I have been in and out of JFK a number of times and this is the first time I've ever come close to seeing it all out an airliner's window! Great job. The thing that always gets me once you are on the ground...if that's the right term for the land-fill, is all the blowing trash. I'd think the jet engines would be sucking up all manner of foreign objects...mostly paper...on every trip in and out. Sure is big and very little green. Thanks for this. Bill

Very impressive shot of an ugly looking place! So brown and unattractive ....from up there anyway! Ha! Great shot and well done with the Pshop. I've never tried shooting out an aircraft window. Tricky!!! Rob.

@tallpindo: When it comes to a photo like this one, I post it for an "interest" factor rather than for a high rating or big audience. I know that aviation buffs will find it interesting as well as some of my regular viewers and perhaps a casual rosity surfer. On ocassion I turn out a really great photograph, but my overall rating is probably "talented amateur."
