Description

According to wikipedia The Great Smoky Mountains got it's name from the natural fog that often hangs over the range and presents as large smoke plumes from a distance. This fog, which is most common in the morning and after rainfall, is the result of warm humid air from the Gulf of Mexico cooling rapidly in the higher elevations of Southern Appalachia. But I prefer to see it differently. And it's purely fanciful thinking on my part, of course, but wouldn't it be wonderful if such things were true? I've often felt beckoned or rather yet compelled to believe in possibilities. The Smokies is an exceptional place. I believe it's still deeply entrenched in magic, if for no other reason than it inspires some of us to see beyond the ordinary and mundane. The rising mist, blue ridges and winding streams are portals to the imagination. Step in and go where your will takes you. Mostly, I find myself lost in the enchantment and majesty of nature at its finest and in its purest form. Here, wild turkeys still roam the prairies and herds of deer appear at dusk to graze. For those of who seek all things exceptional and devine...heed the call. Imagine all that awaits you beyond the mist. Go recharge your soul and cleanse your spirit. Go beyond the smoke and fog Wrap thyself in the veil Walk on child Let the mystery deepen And magic take its hold!
And now....back to reality...photo taken in The Smokies this past October. Photoshop effects by Marshall. Thanks for stopping by! Make it great day!

I love your thoughts on this... Something about this reminds me of the Ocala National Forest in Florida; hauntingly beautiful.
