Description

Here's Rucker's Tomb again. I posted a different view of this structure about a month ago, but I had so much fun there I thought I'd show it to you again! Edit note: That little window at the top is repeated on all four sides. I would imagine it's to let the air flow through the tomb so that when it's opened for new internments from time to time the people on the outside are more comfortable than they would be otherwise. Just a guess. If you want to see a view of the whole tomb so you can see where I was standing when I took this shot, you can check it out here

This is fantastic...the stone texture is amazingly rich and detailed and...yeah...even ancient. I'd love to see this in another century's time...by then the sharper definition of the stone ought to look nicely...well...worn. But this is a great shot in the present. Definitely a favorite.

Your POV here makes this look huge and the detail just jumps out at you--great shot!!

You have taken this shot from probably the best angle, the detail of the stone is strong, I was hoping to zoom onto the central square, I wondered if those little squares had glass in them and each had been broken or is it ventilation just in case the deceased hadn't expired fully? Bravo!

I wondered about the breathing holes, too! He obviously succeeded in making an impression after death, perhaps he was hoping he might somehow see it!

Great POV. Very interesting pyramid shape to the Rucker family mausoleum. Was this large stone in the foreground the door or simply a separate marker of some sort? Breathing holes...heh, heh..., must be some attempt by the builder to keep the inside from becoming excessively damp, stale and musty. Lot's of luck on that! Bill
