Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Those are exceptional. So well written and expressive. Good job, not to many people do the haikus. :)

Like the last breath of a pearl diver, don't release it until you are back at the surface. What is in your hand at that point is the treasure.

What a fabulous idea, to use the haiku form to write a longer poem! Brilliant work. Well done!

What, pray tell, is Haiku? Some kind of catharsis? Your insightful prose reminds me to do something about my physical balance. I may have to enroll in a exercise class to remedy my klutzness.

WOW! I've actually written longer poems in which each stanza was a stand alone haiku! It's NOT an easy thing to do, and you've done so beautifully. The whole point of Haiku is to convey a particular emotion as well as a pronounced visual image and you've done that completely. And I love the line about "little tiny baby steps/and a few backwards." That's so much of what life IS, and it's profoundly touching. There's some raw honesty in here and I love it.

haikus? not easy Always a challenge (for me) I don't do them much. But a string—seven? Just like the linked-verse of old! Basho, meet your match... Cold winds, Chicago. I search for hope in the night: Here, now—I found it. (thoughtful feelings too... no, no more words, just thanks: Your sensitive haiku...)
